Four people lose their lives in wrong-way car accident

Freeways can be dangerous places, due to the number of vehicles on the roadway and the fast speeds at which they travel. Unfortunately, no matter how careful a person drives, he or she still could be involved in a fatal accident on a California freeway.

Four individuals recently lost their lives in an auto accident caused by a person driving the wrong way on the 210 Freeway. According to police, a man drove due west in the eastbound lanes of traffic. His vehicle struck a second vehicle head-on. The man was the only occupant of his vehicle. The vehicle he struck had three women in it.

The man who drove the wrong way and two of the women in the second vehicle lost their lives at the scene of the crash. A third woman from the second vehicle was hospitalized but ultimately passed away due to injuries she suffered in the crash. The incident is being investigated, and it is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

This incident is a striking example of how one wrong move by a negligent driver can affect the lives of many others. Not only did three women lose their lives, but now their families must cope without their loved ones in their lives. Dealing with a death in the family is made all the more tragic when the incident could have been prevented had all drivers been upholding their duty of care.

There are many costs that come with the loss of a loved one in a car accident. Funeral and burial services could cost thousands of dollars. If the victim received medical care prior to passing away, there will be medical expenses. Also, the victim may have been the primary income-earner in the family, resulting in loss of income. So, for these reasons and more, a person who loses a loved one in a car accident may want to pursue a wrongful death suit. Doing so can not only allow the victim's survivors to seek compensation for the damages they suffered, but it is also a way to hold a negligent driver accountable.
